Most expensive domain names (series): Economies and stock markets are declining, but domain names are still skyrocketing

According to DN Journal, a two letter combination “LI.com” was sold for $500,000 between August 6th and August 19, 2007.  As stated before in a previous post titled “All 2 letter combinations are gone…”, it appears that two letter combinations which probably have very little trademark issues and are incredibly convenient for companies to brand along with users on the internet to type & find websites are probably very valuable.  This sale of LI.com shows the value of some of them.  I’m sure Goldman Saches at gs.com and Proctor and Gamble at pg.com would probably have paid possibly similar amounts for those domain names if they didn’t have them.  Who knows, but maybe they did when they first acquired them?

Continuing on DN Journal’s domain sales section, it appears that in this same time period, about $3.5 million worth of domain names have been bought and sold in this same period.  Other sales besides LI.com were Supernatural.com at $125,000, Passover.com at $100,000 and PVC.com at just a short of $100k at $96,000 representing the most expensive domain name sales these past couple of weeks.
