February 5th, 2008 — Keyword trends, Keywords
In the latest wordtracker keyword list, the #1 phrase over the past 48 hours was “play game” and #3 was “Ashley Tisdale.” Games definitely gives sex a run for it’s money quite regularly given that children do a bit of the surfing or a younger population. However, “Sex” (#2 in the surge report [the one that tracks the last 48 hours]) still remains #2 and “Porn” is still #5. And over the past 100 days, they are still #1 and #2 respectively. Lists are provided below…. Continue reading →

“Sex” was #57 according to Wordtracker’s top keyword surge report which measures the top keyword searches in the past 48 hours on the Internet’s most popular meta search engine – this is a HUGE drop & one I’ve never seen before. Either their list is relatively inaccurate or the word literally has been replaced instead by several other words that climbed most recently like “nicole jaracz” — whoever that is. The other words that dominate the top 10 in the list continued to ink the list including porn, play game, hentai, pussy, boobs, milf, myspace and google. So, the word “sex” isn’t on peoples’ minds, but I’m relieved to see porn, hentai, pussy, boobs and milf are still. The world can now breathe a huge sigh of relief…yah right!

Not much movement in the latest Wordtracker keyword top 200 long term keywords. The most movement was “play games” moving up 2 notches on the large list of top keyword searches.
However, in the 2nd half of the top 50 from #28 through 50, there was a bit of volatility. Moving up 8 notches to No. 30 Continue reading →
September 2nd, 2007 — Domain Speculation, Domaining, Jargon - Domaining Industry
As the domain names industry grows to what this year is reported to be a $2.5 billion dollar industry in terms of registration sales & trading of domains [1], we may hear two terms more commonly used in Operations or Technology department of any company.
First, a “domainer” is a person or company which attempts to profit from the Internet’s system of unique identifiers called “domain names.” Current methods of profiting include a) buying and selling domain names which are highly valued, b) Continue reading →

Currently there are 138 million domain name registrations as of August 2007 (top level domain names [TLDs]) according to VeriSign in their Domain Industry Brief. This number represents a 31% increase from last year at this time and an 8% increase from the first quarter of 2007. .com’s represented the largest group with .de (Germany’s default domain extension) holding the 2nd highest number of TLDs and .net right behind it. .uk and .cn (China) are the next in order of highest number of domain registrations. Looks like I’m still getting this list for free and “sex” still tops the recent top 300 queries for the past 48 hours (ending August 28, 2007). Not much change otherwise in the top 10. The only phrase/keywords that seem to be something that’s moved up a bit is “free english course” showing perhaps the 4+ billion who don’t have English as their first language may be more interested these days. Did you know there are about 2+ billion people in this world who potentially could get on the Internet who speak/write/read in English? There’s a reason why Google’s able to net over a billion in adsense/adwords click through advertising revenue in 3 months and why they also paid over a billion in a heartbeat for a site that didn’t make a penny before they bought it (Youtube.com).

**NOTE: the following is not necessarily intended for audiences under the age 21 years old. If you are under 21 years old, please note that these phrases are of a sexual nature and it would be best if you consulted with your parents before reading further.
With that said, let’s talk about some trends I’ve noticed in Wordtracker which sends a weekly top 200 long term keyword report and a weekly top 300 short term top keywords searched on the Internet. I don’t think they allow people to sign up for the free email anymore, but they have been delivering it up until August 14th at least with some of the highest results posted below. Since Continue reading →

Who would of thunk keywords could be “spicy?” Google does…
At Google Labs, they have regular updates on keyword phrases that basically are “spicy” or very volatile and most likely moving up the charts in terms of keyword search frequency.
The latest are: Continue reading →

According to DN Journal, a two letter combination “LI.com” was sold for $500,000 between August 6th and August 19, 2007. As stated before in a previous post titled “All 2 letter combinations are gone…”, it appears that two letter combinations which probably have very little trademark issues and are incredibly convenient for companies to brand along with users on the internet to type & find websites are probably very valuable. This sale of LI.com shows Continue reading →
